This print series was made using an alternative and traditional printing technique called cyanotype. It entails applying a light sensitive substance to paper, arranging botanicals on top of the substance and then exposing it to the sun. After exposing your image for a couple of hours, the substance needs to be washed out of the paper, revealing your image.
The areas covered by your botanicals will be white or lighter in colour. The areas of the substance that was directly exposed to the sun will turn blue.
After the paper has dried, I photographed each print, retouched and cleaned them up a bit, and now they are ready to be reproduced as digital prints.
